Our Services

Vaughn Agricultural Research Services Ltd. (VARS) conducts independent research trials and studies for the crop protection industry, government and grower associations.  We perform these under strict controls and guidelines employing the latest technologies and scientific advances.

Our Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) experience and knowledge of all present and recently introduced regulations concerning the crop protection industry help our clients obtain the best possible scientific information and, consequently, make the best decisions concerning their development of products.

Pesticide Efficacy

We ensure that all of our work complies with regulatory guidelines.  As well, we can help our customers develop or review existing study plan features (e.g., number of sites) in order to ensure that they meet the corresponding regulatory agency and/or organizational guidelines. We use a trusted and reliable Agricultural Research Manager (ARM) program created by Gylling Data Management to input and analyze data from our trials.  The program allows us to study the data analyzed and complete detailed conclusions and reports for our clients.

Crop Residue Studies

All residue studies undertaken by us are in accordance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (40 CFR Part 160) Good Laboratory Practices standards (GLP) or with OECD guidelines.

We believe that GLP regulations lead to greater accuracy, precision and reproducibility.  The final reports we produce from studies we conduct will stand up to legal and scientific scrutiny.  We are recognized as OECD GLP-compliant by the Standards Council of Canada.  (To see SCC certificate, click here .)

Fertilizer Testing

Fertility trials are conducted on all major field crops in our area.  Great care is taken to select sites by aquiring detailed soil characterization information in order to maximize nutrient effects and rate responses of the products being tested.  Normal agronomic practices and crop maintenance are used from planting through to harvest in order to maximize yield potential.

Biotechnology

Our biotech trials (mainly corn and soybeans) are all conducted in accordance with Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulations and guidelines.   Our commitment to site locations are secure and under our full supervision.  Every agronomic resource, including irrigation when required, are used to ensure a healthy crop and one that reaches full maturity.
