We operate out of farm-based research facilities in Ontario, Canada. From our field research facility we can conduct all of your trial needs in Southern Ontario. Our experience has taught us how to maintain GLP quality standards over large distances.
A renovated farm building houses offices for our staff, a modern computer system, chemical and sample storage facilities, long-term file storage and a "clean" area to ensure there is no cross-contamination during spray and sample preparation. Various other out-buildings provide storage space for the necessary field equipment required to plant, maintain, treat and harvest various crops.
Vaughn Agricultural Research Services owns the 78-acre farm it is situated on, thereby assuring control over the trials located here. Along with space for field crops (i.e. corn, grains, soybeans) and vegetables, there are orchards, several rows of grape varieties and specially designated turf areas. In addition, there are 98 acres nearby on long-term lease. Over the 25 years in business VARS has also developed a large number of reliable farmer cooperators in the Zone 5 Field Trial Region. (Click here, to see Zone 5.)
After study plan approval and site selection, the test substance arrives and is stored in our temperature monitored storage facility. Storage shelves are designated for each type of pesticide, i.e. fungicide, herbicide and insecticide. The room is equipped with a fume hood and proper ventilation for use when doing accurate test item weigh-up.
Sample processing is also done at our facility. VARS has ample space in our temperature monitored walk-in freezer to freeze and store samples until they are shipped by freezer truck to a laboratory for testing.
